Kara David renews contract with GMA Network

Kara David remains a loyal Kapuso.

The veteran journalist renewed her contract with GMA Network on Tuesday in one of the conference rooms of the network's headquarters in Quezon City.

The event was also in celebration of David’s 30th anniversary in the journalism industry.

Executives GMA Network CEO and President Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, and Senior Vice President for Public Affairs and Executive Vice President for GMA Pictures Nessa Valdellon were present at the contract signing.

GMA Network, Inc. Chairman and Adviser Atty. Felipe L. Gozon and fellow journalist Jessica Soho were among those who gave congratulatory video messages for David.

More attendees include David’s teams from her various shows.

In a speech, David shared that she failed her job application exams and auditions back in 1995, but that it was only GMA Network that took a chance on her.

“I will be forever grateful for you taking the chance on me when nobody else wanted to take a chance on me,” David said.

“Thank you for allowing me to tell stories and thank you for allowing me to use these stories to help more people in the Philippines."

David is known for her documentaries and for hosting shows like “I-Witness” and “Pinas Sarap.” She is also a journalism professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman, founder of the organization Project Malasakit, and former chair of the UP Department of Journalism.
