GMA Kapuso Foundation to build 4 classrooms in Ubay, Bohol
The GMA Kapuso Foundation is building four new classrooms in Ubay, Bohol.
According to "24 Oras" on Wednesday, two classrooms will be built at Ubay III Elementary School and another two classrooms at Bulilis Elementary School.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation recently held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Kapuso classrooms.
The foundation first built 19 Kapuso classrooms in Ubay back in 2016. The province had been devastated in October 2013 following a 7.2-magnitude earthquake. Eight years later, it was battered by Super Typhoon Odette.
*Kyla, a Grade 6 student, was among those who experienced attending classes in a damaged classroom.
"Sina mama puyat habang binabantayan kami tapos wala kaming magawa para sa kanila. Gusto ko ibigay lahat ng makakaya ko," she said.
"'Yun lang naman po talaga ang kaya ibigay ng mahihirap na magulang sa mga anak nila, 'yung pagpursigihan sila," also said Rainy Butlig, Kyla's mother.
Per GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog, the Kapuso classrooms being built are able to withstand disasters such as intensity 8 earthquakes.
"Gumagamit din tayo ng LGSF o light gauge steel frames. Ito 'yung framing system kung saan naka-integrate 'yung ating kisame at wall system," added Engr. Arnel Zantua, supervising engineer of GMA Kapuso Foundation
The foundation also distributed school supplies and hygiene kits to the students.
For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
