Mika Salamanca to debut children's book 'Lipad' in Manila International Book Fair 2025

Mika Salamanca to debut children's book 'Lipad' in Manila International Book Fair 2025

Mika Salamanca is now an author!

The Sparkle star has published her first-ever children's book, "Lipad."

In her book launching in Monday, Mika said that "Lipad" tells the story of a young fairy named Mahika, who feels she is not good enough because her wings are small and different from the rest.

According to Mika, Mahika's character is inspired by her.

"Mahika is me. Ako po talaga siya. Ako po siya. Kabuuan po siya ng mga pinagdaanan ko simula pagkabata," she said.

The Kapuso actress also said that she decided to write a children's book so she could leave something for children.

"Kasi po, pagka tumutulong po ako sa mga bata, lagi po akong pinapamensahe or pinapakanta. Ako po naisip ko na parang, ano ba 'yung something na matutulong ko sa mga bata? I mean, 'pag kumakanta ako, nag-smile sila, masaya sila," she shared.

She admitted that while singing brings joy to children, she wanted to create something more lasting, something that would remain with them even if they eventually forget her name.

"Pero, ano ba 'yung something na pwede kong iwanan sa kanila na maaalala nila hanggang kahit hindi na nila alam 'yung pangalan ko, kahit hindi na nila ako kilala, may alaala sila sa akin," Mika said.

That's when she thought of writing a book for the children to remember her.

"Doon ko po naisip na perfect 'yung children's book para 'pag pumupunta ako sa bahay ampunan, mayroon akong iiwanan sa kanila, na babasahin nila," Mika said.

"Lipad" will make its official debut at the Manila International Book Fair 2025 which will be held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay from September 10 to 14.

She will also have a reading session and a book signing at the event.

Mika was among the 20 housemates of "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition." She finished as the season's Big Winner alongside her Kapamilya duo Brent Manalo.

She currently appears as Anaca in "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," which airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
