La Union man's Emong-ravaged home rebuilt with help of GMA Kapuso Foundation, PNP nursing division chief

A man in Bauang, La Union, whose home was ravaged by Typhoon Emong in July finally had his house rebuilt with the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation and Philippine National Police Health Service Nursing Division Chief Pcol Jesus Ostrea III.

According to "24 Oras" Friday, Paulo Hipol, a barangay kagawad who also sidelines as a fish vendor, struggled to have his house rebuilt after Emong hit due to lack of funds.

"Magbuhat po nung Typhoon Emong, wala hong kita. Kami po ay umaasa lang sa mga kapitbahay amin, ang bahay ko ay hindi maipatayo dahil walang gamit, wala akong panggastos," he shared.

The home of Paulo and his wife Erlinda was devastated by the strong winds and rains brought by Emong. His life was also put at risk when a part of his collapsed house pinned him down.

To help rebuild Paulo's home, Ostrea made a donation to the GMA Kapuso Foundation for the purchase of construction materials.

"Itong donation po para dun sa nasalanta g bagyo, maski papano makatulong po ito sa kanila sa kanilang pagbangon," said Ostrea.

GMA Kapuso Foundation returned to Bauang, La Union with the construction materials and in just a few hours was able to rebuild Paulo's home.

"'Yung binigay na tulong ng isang donor, bumili tayo ng mga yero, corrugated sheets, then nagbigay din tayo ng mga good lumber tsaka plywood para dun sa kaniyang dingding," said GMA Kapuso Foundation supervising engineer Arnel Zantua.

Paulo expressed his gratitude to the GMA Kapuso Foundation and Ostrea.
