Hidilyn Diaz to teach at UP College of Human Kinetics in 2026
Hidilyn Diaz is set to begin a teaching engagement at the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics (UPD-CHK) in Diliman, Quezon City in 2026.
The Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist in weightlifting shared the good news on Instagram.
In preparation for her teaching stint, Hidilyn recently met with members of CHK's College Executive Board.
“It’s a new path, a level-up opportunity to become a lecturer at UP CHK!” she wrote.
According to Hidilyn, her goal in this new role is to “keep learning, and I hope my students will learn from me too.”
She also shared that she is working on a curriculum “to promote and spread weightlifting,” describing it as a longtime dream.
“I’m excited and nervous, but ready to give my best,” she wrote. “I love weightlifting, and I’ll keep doing my best to grow and share the sport I love."
The Olympian also thanked UP for the warm welcome and expressed her excitement for next year, which marks the start of her teaching journey.
“Excited to start this new journey. See you in January 2026!” she said.
In January, Hidilyn was inducted into the Philippine Sportswriters Association’s Hall of Fame in recognition of her trailblazing Olympic success.
