All you need to know about IV of Spades' comeback album 'Andalucia'

IV of Spades is officially back.

The band released their comeback album, "Andalucia," on Wednesday, November 5. It is their first release since 2019's "CLAPCLAPCLAP!" and their first with original vocalist, Unique Salonga.

A 12-track album, "Andalucia," takes listeners on a journey across topics like love, mental health, yearning, and more. It follows IV of Spades on a more experimental route, moving away from the disco and funk sounds they became known for.

In an interview with GMA News Online following their listening party, Zild Benitez said that thematically, the record is "warm, guitars, drums, less synth."

Zild added that it is a snapshot of who they are now. Badjao De Castro added that the album has the vibes of "maraming kwentuhan."

The album opens with "Tara," an acoustic rock song about wanting to see another person again. This is Badjao's favorite song from the album. He said, "Tunog pauwi na 'ko or 'pag sunset."

It is followed by "Monster," a rocking track with disco influences about dealing with one's own demons.

Listeners are taken down a notch with "Paru-Paro," a love song that sounds like classic OPM.

"Nanaman" then explores themes of mental health and heartbreak. This is followed by "Konsensya," a song about yearning.

IV of Spades goes mellow again with "Tamis ng Pagkakamali," a song about lust.

Halfway through the album is "Aura," the first song the band wrote after getting back together. The comeback single is about longing and everlasting love. Zild calls "Aura" his favorite track off the album because "it feels like home."

Back to the high energy of the songs is "Karma" where all vocalists sang about what goes around comes back around. Blaster said this is his favorite song, and said the reason is "kasi dumadating siya."

IV of Spades then goes back to being slow with the ninth track, "Tangerine Boulevard," a track about caring for one through their fears and having hope.

"Kabisado" is a song about knowing somebody so well. This is Unique's favorite track, "kasi ang ganda niyang love song."

The 11th track, "Rewind," is an upbeat song about being carefree, and features a verse with Badjao on vocals.

The album closes with "Suliranin," a slow song about how bad days are temporary.

"Andalucia" is out now on all streaming platforms.
