Makati Med director shares advise to aspiring doctors

Dr. Saturnino Javier, the medical director of Makati Medical Center, has a piece of advice for aspiring doctors.

In the latest episode of "Power Talks with Pia Arcangel," the award-winning doctor emphasized the importance of passion and genuine commitment in pursuing a career in medicine.

"You have to really want to be a doctor to really enjoy the craft that you're getting into," Javier said.

He also encouraged future doctors to find role models who can guide and inspire them to follow the right path.

"Maybe you should identify role models in life. Ito siguro 'yung path na gusto kong tahakin. And therefore, if it's a doctor's path that I would like to tackle, go for it. Go for it. But don't do anything na napipilitan ka. You won't enjoy it," Javier said.

The physician also reminded those planning to enter medical school that the journey demands sacrifice and commitment.

"I've heard of people quitting medicine in their third year proper and that's something you would not want to happen to anyone. So make sure that you're getting into medicine. It's something that you really want," he said.
