3 barangays in Virac isolated due to Uwan receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Thousands of residents in Virac, Catanduanes, who were affected by the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Operation Bayanihan project.

According to "24 Oras" Thursday, the foundation reached three barangays that got isolated due to Uwan. Among those who benefitted from the relief operations were Ronald Padayao and his family.

"Tuwing bumabaha po, 'pag may bagyo dito po, palaging nawawala po 'yung bahay namin. Wala na po kami ibang lupa na matayuan po," said Padayao, a resident of Barangay Dugui San Isidro.

Due to the area's distance and difficult terrain, residents have to walk two hours to get to Virac to buy their essentials.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation headed to the three isolated barangays in Virac to provide aid to a total of 4,000 residents.

"Ito first time natin nakapasok, 'yung pagkain. Salamat din talaga sa GMA Kapuso Foundation na sabi nga 'yung pagtatawid lang natin, buwis-buhay na inihatid 'yung tulong dito sa aming malayong mga isolated na baranggay," said Virac Mayor Atty. Sinforoso Sarmiento Jr.

Aside from Catanduanes, the foundation continues to provide relief to affected residents in Vinzons, Camarines Norte and Dilasag, Casiguran, and Dinalungan, Aurora.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.

Meanwhile, the Noel Bazaar will kick off at the Okada Manila on Friday and will run until November 16.

Portions of the bazaar's income will be used for GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects related to education, such as rebuilding schools through its Unang Hakbang sa Kinabukasan Project and Kapuso School Development Project.

Shoppers can expect exciting discounts, giveaways, and preloved items from Kapuso personalities at the bazaar.
