Miss Universe org denies it has new Thai owners

Miss Universe org denies it has new Thai owners

The Miss Universe organization (MUO) has issued a statement on Wednesday denying it had a new owner.

In its statement, the MUO addressed "incorrect" media reports specifically "those circulated in Thailand by TCG Social Media Group Company Limited" that suggested they had purchased or are purchasing the rights to the MUO.

"These assertions are incorrect and do not reflect the facts or the official position of the Miss Universe Organization," the MUO statement read.

According to the MUO, they are aware of invitations from the Thai group "suggesting interest" in the organization but specified nobody has acquired "ownership, interest, license, management rights or control" over the MUO brand.

"There is no agreement, contract, share purchase, transfer of rights, or ongoing negotiation with TCG Social Media Group Company Limited regarding the sale or acquisition of the Miss Universe Organization or any of its assets," it said.

"Any materials or announcements implying such a relationship are inaccurate and do not originate from MUO," it added.

In its statement, the MUO said any announcement that hasn't been confirmed by them "is false and misleading."

"The Miss Universe Organization will take all necessary measures, including civil and criminal legal action where appropriate, to protect its rights, brand, and global community against any unauthorized or deceptive use of its name, logo, trademarks, image, or reputation," it added.

The MUO statement comes at the heels of current owner Raul Rocha reportedly saying he was looking to sell the pageant amid the controversies the pageant had most recently faced.

Meanwhile an arrest warrant for Anne Jakrajutatip, the previous Thai owner of MUO, was reportedly issued by a Thai court following her absence during a verdict hearing for a case.
