'Stranger Things' spin-off novel puts Nancy Wheeler in the spotlight

The "Stranger Things" universe is growing once again, this time with a dedicated spin-off novel centered on Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer).

The project was announced shortly after the debut of "Stranger Things" Season 5, Volume 1, which dropped on Netflix in late November.

Nancy's new story will come in the form of a mystery novel dubbed "Stranger Things: One Way or Another," which is now available for pre-order via Penguin Random House.

Written by Caitlyn Schneiderhan, "One Way or Another" is set during the gap between Seasons 4 and 5. The story follows Nancy and Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) as they dig into strange, unsettling events connected to a fellow Hawkins student, which pull them into another eerie adventure in their small town.

Meanwhile, "Stranger Things" Season 5 Volume 1 became the biggest premiere week ever for an English language show in the history of Netflix, garnering 59.6 million views for the first five days.

Netflix added that all five seasons landed on the Top 10, another first for any English series. Season 1 ranked no. 3 (8.9 million views), Season 4 at no. 5 (6.1 million views), Season 2 at no. 6 (5.6 million views), and Season 3 at no. 8 (4.6 million views).

"Stranger Things" Season 5 Volume 2 will premiere on Christmas Day, and the finale will be released on New Year's Eve. —Hermes Joy Tunac/MGP, GMA Integrated News
