4,600 individuals affected by Tino in Cebu receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 4,600 individuals who were affected by Typhoon Tino in Cebu received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Operation Bayanihan Project.

According to "24 Oras" on Wednesday, many residents in Liloan and Mandaue in Cebu have yet to recover from Tino's onslaught a month after it hit the province.

In Barangay Cabadiangan in Liloan, many piggeries, which serve as the residents' main source of livelihood, were damaged by the typhoon.

"Total na naanod na baboy, 1,130 sa aming barangay. Diyan nila kinukuha 'yung pang tuition ng kanilang mga anak, pero sa ngayon nawala sa isang iglap," said Brgy. Cabadiangan chairman Noval Rosalio.

Shiera Mae Bombio, a resident, shared that they tried to save their pigs amid Tino, but were not successful. The typhoon also did not spare their house and store, as well as the vehicle they use for their livelihood.

"Hindi kinaya, inabot pa rin ng tubig. Sobrang lungkot talaga kasi lahat ng pinaghirapan ko nandun eh. Nagsisikap kasi ako simula noong bata para lang makaahon sa hirap," she said.

"Wala nang natira. Naubos na lahat. Nagpapasalamat ako talaga na safe kaming lahat. 'Yung buhay kasi 'yung pinaka-importante."

To provide relief to the affected residents, GMA Kapuso Foundation held its second wave of relief operations in Liloan and Mandaue in Cebu, where it distributed food packs, water, and hygiene kits to a total of 4,600 residents.

"Nandito tayo ngayon sa area na malapit sa ilog at talagang apektado sila. We couldn't have done this without our sponsors and partners. Thank you so much for supporting GMA Kapuso Foundation," said GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
