Two Kapuso classrooms inaugurated at Bohol elementary school
Two new Kapuso classrooms built by the GMA Kapuso Foundation were recently inaugurated at the Bulilis Elementary School in Ubay, Bohol.
According to "24 Oras" on Monday, the elementary school has faced its fair share of challenges, having been devastated by a 7.2-magnitude earthquake in 2013 and by Super Typhoon Odette in 2021.
Susana Baloca witnessed firsthand how her grandchild, a kindergarten student, struggled under the previous conditions of the school's classrooms.
""Kasi sobra pong init tapos hindi siya maka-concentrate, masyadong dikit-dikit sila kasi 'yung classroom dati, hinati nang dalawa," she shared.
Per Kapuso Foundation supervising engineer Arnel Zantua, they expanded the comfort rooms in the newly built Kapuso classrooms.
"Bawat classrooms meron tayong CRs, pinalakihan natin, ginawa nating 1.5 by 1.7, so bawat CR merong sariling toilet, may flush, meron ding lavatory," he said.
The classrooms also featured a handwashing facility and a foot-washing station.
"Three months ito dahil tayo ay pinalad at hindi tayo inulan at binagyo, so napakasaya natin para 'yung mag estudyante — kinder students daw ang gagamit daw ng ating bagong school," said Kapuso Foundation EVP& COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog.
In addition to the new Kapuso classrooms, the foundation also donated a brand-new smart TV to the school.
"Hindi lang para sa isang batch [ito] kundi lahat ng henerasyon na pwedeng gumamit dito. To GMA Kapuso Foundation, our heartfelt gratitude," said Bulilis Elementary School principal Ruby Ann Ayuban.
