12k individuals affected by Typhoon Tino in Negros Island receive help from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 12,000 individuals in Negros Island affected by Typhoon Tino have received assistance from GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to “24 Oras,” Friday, many families in Barangay Yubo in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, have been staying at an evacuation center for a month after their homes were swept away by the swollen river.

Among them is Merlita Lumogdang, whose house was carried off by strong currents.

“Sa aming katapat, ‘yung mga nakahilerang bahay, nasira lahat. Sobrang laki ng tubig. Umaapaw sa poste,” she said.

To help neighbors resume their livelihoods, one resident even built a makeshift wooden footbridge to reconnect the community.

In Barangay Masulog in Canlaon City, Negros Occidental, residents are still unsure how to start rebuilding after the storm’s destruction.

After delivering aid in Cebu, the GMA Kapuso Foundation continued its relief operations in Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.

A total of 12,000 individuals across Canlaon, La Carlota, and Moises Padilla received food packs, along with prepared meals, drinking water, and diapers.

“Everytime na may kalamidad na dumating dito sa aming barangay, si GMA Kapuso ay hindi talaga kinakalimutan. During Odette, bulkan, ngayon ito naman bagyo,” Benoni Demerin said.

For those who are interested to help, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
