8k individuals affected by Tino in Dinagat Islands receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 8,000 individuals who were affected by Typhoon Tino in Dinagat Islands have received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to "24 Oras" Friday, many residents in Dinagat Islands have yet to recover from the impact of the typhoon a month after it hit the province.

PDRRM Dinagat Media Information Communication-in-Charge Owen Gonzaga said that there are 723 totally damaged houses in the province, while a total of 6,095 are partially damaged.

Mardie Cabajes, a resident, lost her crops after they were ravaged by Tino. She also close down her sari-sari store after it was flooded due to the typhoon.

"Ang wish ko sa pasko 'yung makaahon kami. Ang mahalaga, sama-sama pa rin," said Cabejes.

With the help of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the GMA Kapuso Foundation headed to Tubajon and Loreto in Dinagat Islands to distribute aid to the residents.

"Via manpower. Meron naman po tayong transportation dito sa headquarters natin na magagamit na magkarga ng mga kailangan kargahin," said CGDNEM public information officer ENS Jimco Cedrick Fidel.

The foundation also ferried sacks of food packs from mainland Dinagat to Gibusong Island, where students have been holding classes inside tents after the roof of their school was damaged by Tino.

Per the report, a total of 8,000 individuals benefited from the mercy mission.
