'Yona of the Dawn' gets anime sequel after 11 years

After 11 years, the "Yona of the Dawn" anime is finally getting a sequel!

The anime's official account announced on X that a sequel to the 2014 series is currently in production.

"As announced in the latest issue of 'Hana to Yume' (Issue 2), it has been decided that a sequel anime will be made!" the statement read.

Other details, including the release date and format, have yet to be revealed as of writing.

"Yona of the Dawn" (Akatsuki no Yona) is based on the manga of the same name by Mizuho Kusanagi, which ended earlier in December.

It follows the story of a young princess who is traumatized by the murder of her father at the hands of her cousin. She is forced to flee her kingdom, but later finds allies who have supernatural powers and a strange connection to her destiny.
