1K students affected by earthquake in Caraga, Davao Oriental receive toys, food packs from GMA Kapuso Foundation
A thousand students in Caraga, Davao Oriental received toys and food packs from the GMA Kapuso Foundation following a series of earthquakes that struck the area.
According to “24 Oras,” Wednesday, among those affected was Ruth Digamon, who lost her home of more than a decade due to a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in October.
“Nanghinayang po. Sayang pinagpaguran. Isang iglap nawala lang. Pasalamat din ako sa Panginoon dahil safe kaming lahat,” Ruth said.
Despite the disaster, Ruth’s children continue to live with fear every time aftershocks hit, especially after a 6.4 magnitude tremor shook the area just recently.

“Kapag lumilindol, ang naiisip ko lang 'yung mga anak ko, sana always safe sila nag-aaral,” Ruth added.
Other children in the area also voiced their concerns.
“Sana po wala nang darating na lindol para tuloy-tuloy po ang aming pag-aaral,” said “Mike,” a local student.
“Ang hiling ko po sana wala nang lindol ang mangyari, dahil takot na takot na po kami,” “Anne” said.
To ease their worries, the GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed toys and food packs to Grade 1 to 6 students from nine schools in the area.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami nang lubos sa GMA Kapuso Foundation para sa mga regalong ibinigay sa mga mag-aaral. ‘Yung kaba nila at takot, napapalitan ng ngiti,” school in-charge at Mercedes Elementary School Allan Palma Gil said.
For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
