Animal rescuer in Parañaque helps aspin with large tumor get medical treatment
A dog named Faith is now recovering and living happily at an animal rescue center in Parañaque founded by Raevin Bonifacio.
According to Kuya Kim’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, Faith was suffering from a large tumor in her abdomen when she was brought to the center.
“Sa tagal ko pong nagre-rescue, siya po ‘yung may pinakamalaking tumor na nakuha ko kaya sobrang naawa po ako sa kaniya. Kaya minessage ko po ‘yung nag-comment para po makuha po siya kaagad,” Raevin said.
Faith was rushed to a veterinarian for emergency care.
“Sinabihan po ako na 50-50 nga po ‘yung surgery. Pati ang lala po ng kalagayan niya. Kailangan din po siya masalinan po ng dugo bago po mag-undergo ng surgery kasi pwede pong hindi na po siya magising dahil mababa na po ‘yung dugo niya,” Raevin said.
Faith underwent surgery, and the tumor, estimated to weigh five to six kilos, was successfully removed.
Despite the successful operation, the vet bill reached P80,790. Raevin worked hard and received help from supporters to cover the expenses.
After two weeks in the clinic, Faith is now active and playful again.
“Parang wala pong nangyari. As in parang sobrang ginhawa niya po. Sa ngayon po, ang ginagamot na lang is ‘yung pinaka wound or 'yung sugat na lang po,” Raevin said.
He is waiting for biopsy results to determine if Faith will need chemotherapy.
Raevin also shared his plans to build a larger shelter for rescued animals.
“Nagiipon-ipon na po para mas makabili ng mas malaking lupa,” he said.
Meanwhile, to address the issue of stray animals and animal abuse, veterinarian Dr. Glenn Albert Almera underscored the importance of spaying and neutering.
“If there is less number of stray animals, there is also less cases of this kind of animal abuses dahil ‘yung contact is less din. Maganda na ipagpatuloy natin ang spay and neutering because it helps not only the animals but also the general community,” said Almera.
