Arwind Santos, Paul Artadi admit they did not like each other during their UAAP days

Things had been extra competitive between Arwind Santos and Paul Artadi during their time as University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball players.

Back then, Paul was a player for the University of the East while Arwind was with Far Eastern University.

On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Monday, the two admitted that they did not like each other during those times.

“Honestly, no,” Paul said. “Sorry ah, I remember kinalmot ko pa ‘tong si Arwind dito. Kinalmot ko sa galit. I was a bad guy.”

“Maangas ako noon, ‘di ko alam bakit,” Paul added.

Arwind also described Paul back then as “makulit.”

“Makulit siya, mapang-asar si Paul,” Arwind said.

He added, “’Di lang siya ang makulit, marami sila halos. Pare-pareho ganon, mga bully na players.”

Coming from Pampanga, Arwind said he was used to that kind of treatment. “Kaya ako, laro lang ako. The more na nakikipag-bullyhan ako, the more na nag-focus naman ako sa game.”

The veteran basketball players also gave some profound advice to aspiring basketball players.

“Unang una, kailangan magtiwala ka sa Diyos na kaya mong abutin ‘yung mga pangarap mo, ‘wag kang magdududa,” Arwind said.

Per Arwind, one must give one’s best “bago mo sabihin, ‘hindi ko kaya.’” He also advised against having any vices.

Paul, for his part, told aspiring basketball players to hold on to God.

Following UAAP, the players had successful careers in the Philippine Baskbetball Association (PBA). Among their famous teams are San Miguel Beermen for Arwind and Barangay Ginebra Kings for Paul.
