NASA opens sign-ups to send names aboard Artemis II lunar flight

NASA is inviting the public to send their names on a journey around the Moon as part of the upcoming Artemis II mission.

In a Valentine’s Day post, the space agency encouraged people to sign up their loved ones and have their names included on the flight.

Submitted names will be stored on an SD card that will fly aboard the Orion spacecraft when Artemis II launches in 2026.

Artemis II will be the first crewed flight under NASA’s Artemis campaign.

Four astronauts, Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency, will fly around the Moon and back.

The approximately 10-day mission will launch no later than April 2026 aboard NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket from Launch Complex 39 at Kennedy Space Center.

It will mark the first time humans travel on the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft.

Sign-ups can be done through NASA’s official website.
