GMA Kapuso Foundation constructing 2-storey Kapuso School Building in Camarines Sur

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is constructing a new, two-storey Kapuso School Building in Malitbog Elementary School in Minalabac, Camarines Sur.

According to "24 Oras" Wednesday, the school is among the hardest-hit areas whenever typhoons happen, including during Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in 2024.

Floodwaters have damaged the school's classrooms, with some having become unsalvageable as time passed. Currently, Grade 2 and Grade 4 students share a single classroom that has been divided by a plywood sheet.

"'Pag nagsasabayan naman po kami ng lesson sa kabila ng room, halos po magsigawan na kami," shared teacher Cecile Deveras.

"Mahirap po kasi mag-focus kasi ang hirap-hirap. Maingay po sa 'min at maingay naman po dun sa Grade 2," said Jan (not his real name), a student.

To help the students, teachers, and staff of Malitbog Elementary School, the GMA Kapuso Foundation began constructing a two-storey Kapuso School Building in October 2025, designed specifically for areas that are flood-prone.

"Sa ngayon around 60 percent na 'yung ating accomplishment. Elevated 'yung ating mga classroom. 'Yung height niya is three meters, so 'yung baha naman dito typically nag-r-range lang ng one meter to 1.5," said GMA Kapuso Foundation supervising engineer Arnel Zantua.

Per the report, the Kapuso School Building will soon be ready for use by the students.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
