Kapuso programs, personalities win big at 4th Laurus Nobilis Media Excellence Awards

Several GMA Network programs and personalities were honored at the fourth Laurus Nobilis Media Excellence Awards at the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) in Cavite.

According to Raffy Tima’s report on “24 Oras,” Monday, GMA Network's flagship newscast "24 Oras" won the Media Excellence in Television News award.

Its anchors, Mel Tiangco and Kim Atienza, also won the Media Excellence in Television News Anchoring awards in the female and male categories, respectively. 

Kapuso Action Man Emil Sumangil, for his part, was honored with the Media Excellence in Radio News Anchoring award (Male Category).

“I-Witness,” which is celebrating its 27th anniversary this year, likewise won Media Excellence in Public Affairs (Program Category).

Atom Araullo, meanwhile, won Media Excellence in Public Affairs Hosting.

“It’s Showtime” also won Media Excellence in Variety Show. 

Lastly, Papa Dudut of Barangay LS 97.1 FM took home the Media Excellence in Radio Disc Jockeying (Male Category).

Per Tima's report, the Laurus Nobilis Media Excellence Awards recognizes the contributions of institutions and personalities to mass media. Votes are cast not only by current LPU students, but also by employees and alumni.
