2 Filipino kids shine on 'The Voice Kids Germany 2026'

Two young Filipino singers are making waves on “The Voice Kids Germany 2026.”

Liam Bravo

Liam’s love for singing started around age four, encouraged by his grandfather who introduced him to songs by Charlie Puth.

The family originally hails from Pasig and Caloocan City in the Philippines and moved to Germany in 2018. Growing up in a Filipino household, family gatherings and karaoke made music an integral part of his life.

Liam’s mom, Sherrizah, shared in an exclusive interview with GMA News Online, “We’ve always enjoyed watching The Voice Kids on YouTube, and at the same time, family karaoke has been a big part of our life—even here in Germany. One evening during karaoke, Liam suddenly said he wanted to audition for The Voice Kids. We could see how serious and excited he was, so we thought, ‘Why not?’ and decided to support him every step of the way.”

For his blind audition, Liam performed “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars, earning a spot on Team HE/RO, the twin duo coaching him through the competition.

“Performing on a big stage is nerve-wracking at first, but he really enjoys it. One of the best parts has been meeting other kids who love music just like him. He’s made a lot of friends, and they all support each other,” Sherrizah said.

Jamie Chua

Jamie, who is set to turn 15 on April 30, impressed coaches with her rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph,” earning a coveted four-chair turn and securing a spot on Team Alvaro Soler.

Born in Florence, Italy to Filipino parents from Occidental Mindoro and Batangas, Jamie moved to Germany in 2017. She is fluent in Tagalog and takes pride in representing the Philippines on the global stage.

Her father, Jason Chua, told GMA News Online that Jamie’s love for music began at an early age.

“Our family is musically inclined, and she grew up watching us play instruments like the guitar, piano, and drums. By the age of 2, she would pick up the ukulele, strum it, and sing out loud to songs like Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the Way You Are,’” he said.

She is also part of a band in their town, where she plays lead or rhythm guitar and contributes vocals.

Her family continues to support her throughout the competition, balancing her music journey with her education.

“We support her in every possible way—driving her to lessons or to Berlin, which is a six-hour drive, attending performances, and making sure she feels encouraged but never pressured. The most important thing is that she enjoys what she’s doing and stays happy,” Jason said.

Jamie is also happy to share the experience with a fellow Filipino.

“She is very proud to represent the Philippines and has learned so much about Filipino culture. She was delighted to know that another Filipino kid joined The Voice Kids this year—it makes her journey even more special,” Jason said.

Liam's mom Sherrizah said that Liam shared an instant connection with Jamie.

“It’s really special to have someone who shares the same roots in a competition like this. There’s an instant connection, and it just feels nice and familiar. The experience has been very positive and we support each other,” Sherrizah said.

“Representing the Philippines on a stage like this is something we’re really proud of. And to have another Filipino there with us makes it even more special. We just hope we can make our fellow Filipinos proud and show the love and passion we have for music.”

Next up for Liam and Jamie are the Battle Rounds, where they will perform in groups with fellow contestants.

Good luck, Liam and Jamie! —JCB, GMA Integrated News
