GMA Kapuso Foundation to build 2 classrooms at Dakit Elementary School in Bogo, Cebu
GMA Kapuso Foundation is set to construct two classrooms at Dakit Elementary School in Bogo City, Cebu.
According to a report on “24 Oras,” Monday, the school's seven classrooms were damaged by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that rocked Bogo City last September.
Due to the shortage of classrooms, the school has divided the students' school hours based on their grade level.
"'Yung sa graders, ang Grade 1 namin patungong Grade 3 ay papasok sila ng six o'clock tapos lalabas sila ng 12 at 'yung 4, 5, 6 na graders, papasok sila ng 12, uuwi sila ng six," said school principal Lyn Montecillo.
Students were left traumatized after having experienced calamities in the past year, with some bringing hard hats to school as protection from aftershocks.
To help the students and teachers, the GMA Kapuso Foundation will build a Kapuso-type school building with two classrooms and comfort rooms.
"Sa CR, pinalakihan natin siya, 'yung size niya, to accommodate 'yung [persons with disabilities] students. Naglagay din tayo dun ng foldable hand bars," explained GMA Kapuso Foundation's supervising engineer Arnel Zantua.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation also donated complete school supplies and vegetable seeds to the students.
Per the report, the foundation's partner, Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corporation, helped in delivering the materials to the school.
"We also believe in delivering hope, compassion, and the need of others to reach far-flung areas," said Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corporation Head of Treasury Michael Go.
For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
