Miss Universe Philippines announces removal of 1 candidate from 2026 competition
The Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPH) has announced the removal of one of its official candidates from the 2026 competition following a review of concerns regarding her participation.
In a statement released by the organization on Saturday, MUPH said it continues to value individuality among its delegates while maintaining standards of respect, professionalism, and a positive environment for all participants and partners.
“Following concerns that were brought to our attention, the organization undertook a careful and thorough review of the matter. The delegate was given both verbal and written guidance to help address the situation. Despite these efforts, certain behaviors continued in ways that were not aligned with the standards we aim to uphold,” the statement said.
“As such, it has been decided that the delegate will no longer be allowed to continue in the competition.”
The organization did not disclose the identity of the candidate involved, nor did it specify what behavior or incident led to the removal.
MUPH further reiterated its commitment to fostering a respectful and empowering environment for all delegates as the pageant continues.
“We remain dedicated to ensuring that the experience is constructive and meaningful for everyone involved,” the organization said. “We thank the public for their understanding and continued support.”
Last month, the organization introduced 51 candidates for the upcoming competition. The roster now stands at 50 following the announcement.
The 2026 coronation night will take place on May 1 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The winner will be crowned by Miss Universe Philippines 2025 and Sparkle artist Ahtisa Manalo.
The new queen will then represent the Philippines in Miss Universe 2026, which will take place in November at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
