Joy Barcoma agrees with allowing transwomen in beauty pageants

Joy Barcoma is all for transgender women being allowed to compete in major pageants such as Miss Universe.

"I actually agree with the decision of the Miss Universe Organization to take na po and accept transwomen into the pageantry," Joy said on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Wednesday.

"Because if we want to celebrate femininity and womanhood, we should not discredit the experiences as well as the transition that our transgender community went through," the beauty queen added.

In 2012, the Miss Universe Organization finally changed its rules that only allowed "naturally born females" in the competition, welcoming trans candidates to participate.

Joy is the Philippine representative to Miss Earth 2025, where she finished in the Top 8. Czech Republic's Natalie Puskinova took home the crown.

Throughout her campaign, Joy would regularly trend on social media for her hilarious posts.

She also previously competed in Miss World Philippines in 2021. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
