Matty Juniosa joins cast of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in West End
The Filipino singer and "Britain's Got Talent" finalist Matty Juniosa is joining the cast of "Jesus Christ Superstar" in the West End!
Matty will be taking on the role of high priest Annas, one of the antagonists in the musical, according to the production's social media post.
Emmy- and BRIT-nominated singer Sam Ryder will play the role of Jesus. Other cast members include Tyrone Huntley (Judas Iscariot), Desmonda Cathabel (Mary Magdalene), David Thaxton (Pontius Pilate), Bob Harms (Caiaphas), Billy Nevers (Simon and alternate Judas), and Phil King (Peter).
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Simon Russell Beale, Richard Armitage, Boy George, Layton Williams, and Julian Clary will share the role of King Herod.
"Jesus Christ Superstar" will run from June to September at The London Palladium.
With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, the rock opera explores the final days of Jesus Christ through the perspective of Judas Iscariot.
Ahead of the musical, Matty is heading to the grand finals of "Britain's Got Talent" Season 19 after receiving his second Golden Buzzer last weekend for his performance of "Dream On" by Aerosmith.
In March, he also received a Golden Buzzer, which sent him straight to the semi-finals.
