Mt. Apo Natural Park will be closed for three months starting June

Adventure seekers planning to climb Mt. Apo will have to put their trekking plans on hold as authorities announced the annual three-month closure of the mountain's trails and campsites.

According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippines (DENR), the park's official off-season will run from June to August.

The closure will be implemented simultaneously across Regions XI and XII, covering all trekking and camping activities within the protected area.

During this period, visitors will not be allowed to enter the mountain for recreational climbs or overnight stays.

DENR said the annual off-season is necessary to support rehabilitation efforts, disaster prevention measures, and biodiversity conservation programs.

Mt. Apo is the highest peak in the Philippines.

Mt. Apo Natural Park spans portions of Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN and is home to diverse wildlife, endemic plant species, and critical watersheds, making it one of the Philippines' most important protected areas.
