GMA Network marks World Environment Day with Kalikasan Fair
GMA Network held a Kalikasan Fair at the GMA Network Center in celebration of World Environment Day.
According to Iya Villania's report in "24 Oras" on Thursday, the event also marked the observance of Sustainable Gastronomy Day, Philippine Environment Month, and part of the network's 76th anniversary celebration.
The Kalikasan Fair brought together various government agencies and environmental advocates to promote sustainable living, environmental awareness, and support for local communities.
Among the participating agencies was the Department of Agriculture, which showcased fresh produce from local farmers through its Kadiwa program.
The initiative aims to connect consumers directly with farmers while supporting local agriculture and ensuring access to affordable, high-quality products.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Plant Industry and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources distributed free seedlings to encourage tree planting and environmental conservation efforts.
Members of the public may also obtain free seedlings through the offices of the participating government agencies.
As part of the fair, GMA Network also partnered with the Quezon City local government for a clothing donation drive.
The initiative seeks to provide professional and formal attire to graduating college scholars and out-of-school youth, helping them prepare for job applications and future employment opportunities. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA News
