Almost 15,000 students nationwide received complete school supplies from GMA Kapuso Foundation's in time for the start of classes.

According to a "24 Oras" report on Monday, among the beneficiaries of the Unang Hakbang sa Kinabukasan project are families who are still struggling to recover from economic challenges and previous disasters.

These include Jay and his grandmother, Regina Hemor, who collect shells from the shore during low tide and sell them for P35 per kilo.

"Ngayon hindi na po kaya dahil kasi sobrang mahal ng diesel kaya namamarik lang po kami talaga," said Regina.

There was also Mylene Camba's family in Bani, Pangasinan, whose home was destroyed by Typhoon Emong last July 2025. Using leftover materials from her husband's work in construction, they have been slowly rebuilding their home despite limited resources.

"Nagiba 'yung bahay namin kaya ngayon 'di na po namin napaayos kasi wala pong pang-ayos," said Mylene.

Aside from donating to communities affected by Emong, the GMA Kapuso Foundation also gave complete school supplies to communities that were hit by Tropical Storm Basyang in Iligan and Typhoon Tino in Negros Oriental and Occidental.

It likewise donated school supplies to those who were affected by the fuel crisis in Aurora and Nueva Ecija.

Almost 15,000 students in kindergarten up to Grade 2 benefited from the project, per the report.

"Ang bigay nating biyaya para sa mga bata ay malaking bagay para sa kanila. Maraming salamat po," said Agno, Pangasinan Public Schools Division Supervisor Rosie Caasi.

Meanwhile, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is now preparing to send aid to communities affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Mindanao on Monday morning.

On Tuesday, the foundation will start repacking relief goods at the GMA Regional Station in General Santos City. These will be immediately distributed to affected communities.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, Shopee, and Palawan Pay. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
