Rescued island dog from Aklan finds forever home in the US

A rescued island dog from Aklan has found her forever home in Massachusetts, United States.

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) shared the heartwarming news on Facebook, announcing that a woman named Katie offered to adopt the dog named Felicia just days before she was scheduled to be euthanized at a local pound in Aklan.

Felicia was rescued by the Aklan Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Center.

"To help Felicia reach her new home, PAWS executive director Atty. Anna Cabrera posted a personal appeal on Facebook asking who could help give her a ride to the United States," PAWS said.

Bow House, a pet supplies store in Manila, reposted the appeal, and Philippine Airlines responded by extending a helping hand.

"While preparing for her trip, Felicia stayed at the PAWS shelter to complete her treatment, regain her health, and secure the documents required for international travel," PAWS said.

"Thank you, Philippine Airlines, for giving Felicia more than just a flight, but the chance to begin a new life with a family of her own."
