Rescued aspins take part in Palarong Pang-Aspin

Aspins were in for a fun day at the first-ever Palarong Pang-Aspin organized by Philippine Animal Welfare Society at a Quezon City mall on Sunday.

According to Katrina Son's report on "24 Oras Weekend," the fur babies and their fur parents took part in games such as sandok palayok, luksong baka, Mount Makiling activity, paypay power, lobo relay, and paw-bitin.

The dogs also had movie time and a pet buffet.

Most of the pets were rescued—those found outside their homes, got involved in hit-and-run accidents, and found in public places.

Atty. Anna Cabrera, executive director for PAWS, said that only pure-bred dogs are often taken out to pet-friendly places.

"We changed the term from askal to aspin because dogs should not be in the streets," she said. "We observed, 90-percent of the cruelty cases we receive involve aspins."

"Aspins, they're just as valuable as dogs with breeds," fur parent Kimberly Ramos said.
