Kio Dy announces passing of son Kaelo: 'We are heartbroken, but we are blessed'

Kio Dy, the brother of volleyball star Kianna Dy, has announced the passing of his son with partner Lauren Kim.

In a post on social media, Kio shared their son, Kaelo Do-Yoon Ha Dy, died on August 12, 2026, barely a month since he was born on July 17, 2026.

“Our beautiful son, Kaelo Do-Yoon Ha Dy, came into this world on July 17 and left us far too soon on August 12,” the content creator wrote.

He first expressed gratitude to God for blessing them with Kaelo, before thanking their families and friends for giving them the time and space to cope with their loss.

“To all who protected and wished Lauren and Kaelo well throughout her pregnancy and even after, thank you. We will forever be grateful to those who chose compassion, understanding, and kindness toward our family,” he said.

In his post, Kio also shared a heartfelt message for his son, expressing their grief.

“Do-yoona, Aga.. Appa and Eomma love and miss you so much. We are heartbroken, but we are blessed that you gave us a love that we will carry for the rest of our lives,” he wrote.

“Our family started with you and we promise that it won’t end with you.”

As they navigate their loss, Kio asked the public to respect their privacy and allow their family time and space to grieve.

“Please allow us and our families the time and space to grieve,” he said.

Kio and Lauren announced that they are expecting their first child in February.
