German Moreno's son Federico shares how he found out he was adopted
German Moreno’s son, Federico Moreno, shared the story of how he found out that he was not the late veteran star's biological child.
On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Thursday—ahead of Kuya Germs’ birthday on October 4—Federico said the way he found out was like a “Netflix series.”
It all started when he was young and playing outside, when the other kids would tell him, “You’re adopted. You’re the adopted child of German Moreno.”
“So I would hear that, but I didn’t know what ‘adopted’ means. As time went on, ah, I know what it means now,” Federico said in a mix of Filipino and English.
Federico eventually confirmed it when his grandmother passed away in 1991. He recalled Kuya Germs calling him upstairs where his whole family was present.
“'Freddie, do you know you’re adopted?' I said, ‘Yes, pa. I’ve known for a long time,’” he said, and added that he learned about it from school and the streets.
Kuya Germs then asked if Federico wanted to look for his biological family.
“I said, ‘No need, pa. I’m okay because everyone’s here, you’re here, that’s more than enough. I am very blessed.'"
Later in the “Fast Talk” segment, Federico also said, “I grew up with Kuya Germs and I try my best to continue his legacy in my own small way.”
He also shared that a "That's Entertainment" reunion is in the works.
“That’s Entertainment” aired on GMA Network from 1986 to 1996. It was a variety show that separated the stars into five groups: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Saturdays, they all performed together.
Among those who were part of “That’s Entertainment” were Lea Salonga, Francis Magalona, Billy Crawford, Judy Ann Santos, Ian Veneracion, Isko Moreno, and many more.
Kuya Germs, also known as “The Master Showman,” passed away due to cardiac arrest in 2016.
