Christmas is merry for Super Dad, still a proud garbage collector

Tatay Cristito Quimado went viral for the best possible reason this year.

Known as "Super Dad", Tatay Cristito earned admiration for his dedication to his children. He works hard as a garbage collector to provide for his family. Last April, his eldest daughter Jen Rose was able to graduate college with Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Technology.

Touched by his story of exceptional determination, kindhearted individuals and groups like Lifted International offered the Quimados help. Their generosity helped family put up a sari-sari store.

Tatay Cristito's wife Jennifer said that they did not expect the charity of strangers and they've been humbled by the blessings they received. "Sobra-sobrang pasasalamat lang, kasi dumating siya ng kusa na hindi namin inaasahan," she said.

Despite the outpour of help, Tatay Cristito is still dedicated to his job because two of his children will be entering college next year.

Jennifer added, "Ayaw niyang tumigil, kasi, sabi niya, kahit tapos na 'yong mga anak niya, hindi daw kami puwedeng umasa sa mga anak."

For Tatay Cristito, providing for his children is a lifelong job.

"Wala pa akong balak tumigil, kasi may mga kapatid pa siyang (Jen) na nag-aaral. Isa pa lang napapatapos ko. Apat pa 'yong kasunod niya," he explained.

"Sa mga katulad kong tatay, obligasyon nating magpaaral ng anak. Sana lahat ng mga anak niyo, huwag niyong pabayaan."

Jen said that she's happy she now has a job and she offers to help her parents. However, they tell her to keep it and just give what she can.

According to Tatay Cristito, the all he really wants is his family's happiness.  — AT, GMA News
