Kylie Padilla says she has experienced perinatal depression

Kylie Padilla says that she has experienced perinatal depression, or depression during pregnancy, during her current pregnancy.

"Naranasan ko lang 'yon kay Alas after, postpartum," she told 24 Oras in an interview on Tuesday.

"Eto, hindi ko siya naintindihan bigla na lang nagba-blank ako tapos lumala 'yong anxiety ko so kaya akala namin girl."

The Kapuso actor, who is five months pregnant, added that she is currently feeling a lot better.

"Nagulat ako sa perinatal kasi kay Alas talaga super saya ko I was really happy I didn't feel anything," Kylie said.  "Pero OK naman na ako kasi 'yong support system ko naman matibay eh. Si Alas, my family and friends."

Kylie said she's also been coping through writing, doing projects and painting.

"Nilalabas ko in other ways, like I write. May project ako on myself na ginagawa. Binubuhos ko doon 'yong passion ko kasi siyempre 'yong outlet ko 'yong acting 'di ba."

She said that for this pregnancy, she feels she has to discover and find more things about herself.

"This one parang mas kailangan, ewan ko ba parang kailangan ko pa hanapin sarili ko in this one, parang 'yon 'yong journey ko ngayon. Sino ba talaga si Kylie?"she said.

"May ganon ako every time I'm pregnant it's so weird or baka emotional lang ako," she added.

She said that her postpartum depression three months after she had Alas made her realize things about herself.

"It has something to teach you, parang may something inside you na lumalabas para i-tackle mo 'yon. Nata-tackle ko naman siya," Kylie shared.

Kylie announced that she and husband Aljur Abrenica are expecting baby number two in a vlog she posted last Sunday. Their firstborn Alas recently turned two years old. — BM, GMA News
