10 important lessons we picked up from the 2nd part of Heart and Chiz's 'Adulting 101' video
As soon as she hit a million followers on YouTube, Heart Evangelista released the much-awaited second part of her "Adulting 101" series with her husband, Sorsogon governor and former senator Chiz Escudero.
And just two days after the second part was uploaded, it has garnered more than half a million views on YouTube.
Aside from seeing Heart and Chiz together in one video, their video is also jampacked with lessons about work, love, relationships, life and overcoming fears and grief.
Below, we listed 10 things you can learn from the second part of "Adulting 101" with Heart and Chiz.
1. Don't fight change, adapt to it
Chiz said change is the only constant thing in life, and the only way to deal with it is to adapt to it.
He said fighting change will only make it difficult for people to adapt to it, "when you say adapt, you have to accept it. You have to embrace it. Don't fight it."
The good news is Chiz said not all changes lead to the bad.
"Hindi naman laging masama 'yong pagbabago. May mga pagbabago ring maganda and if you weigh it out, if you look back in your life, you'll see and realize hopefully na 'yong pagbabago na naganap sa buhay mo karamihan doon is for the better," he said.
2. Be courageous because your fears and anxieties are only making you stronger
Being afraid and having anxiety does not mean one lacks courage, Chiz said, adding courage is "not the absence of fear but the ability to overcome it."
He said perhaps, your fears may be God's way of making you stronger.
"He lets you go through all of these bad experiences to make you stronger, to test your ability to overcome that fear," he said.
Heart said whenever she would worry and have anxiety, she would always hear Chiz tell her that, "Wala pa, pinroblema mo na. Pinagdaanan mo na 'yong sakit ng ulo at 'yong nararamdaman na wala pa naman pano pag di naman natuloy edi sayang lang 'yon."
3. Nothing lasts forever
If there's one lesson Chiz learned in life it's that nothing lasts forever. "So make sure you act, think, walk and speak with that at the back of your mind," he said.
Whatever your situation you may be in right now, it's going to pass. "So habang mataas ang pwesto mo, habang may pera ka 'wag mo isiping habang buhay. [Kung] naghihirap ka ngayon o nagtitiis ka ngayon hindi rin naman habang buhay 'yon so make sure you're able to adapt to that change," he added.
4. Your 20's is the best time to try things you're uncomfortable with
Chiz said if there's one thing he would tell his 20-something self it is to "do your work and at the same time live your life."
"Finish your studies, look for a job, but at the same time, enjoy life," he added.
He said your 20's is the best time to be fearless — not reckless. Later in life, you will have to be more careful because you will have more obligations in the form of your job, your aging parents, your wife and your children.
He reminded,"Mas mahina 'yong loob mo at mas kulang ka sa tapang, mas walang pera 'yong bulsa mo."
5. Maintain a balance between passion and practicality
Chiz said it's essential to have a balance between being practical and pursuing your passion.
"It's never too early to save and be practical but there's also a time to actually enjoy not only what you have but enjoy life as it is brought before you," he said.
6. Relationships are not all about romance. Friendship should be the foundation
According to Heart, being with Chiz has helped her realize that relationships are not all about romance. Friendship, she said, should be the main foundation of any relationship.
Heart admitted to being clingy before, always wanting a touchy-feely kind of love. But the reality is "it's not always roses and petals. What makes it last is the friendship."
Heart noted that couples "don't always have to be in love as long as you really love each other unconditionally this is what makes a relationship work."
7. You work and fight for relationships to last
"As you said, it's not going to be all easy," Chiz began. "It's not going to be all smooth, so you definitely have to work at it and sometimes even fight for it. That will be the best test of whether or not your relationship will last."
On the brighter side, Chiz said it won't always be difficult. "There are times that it'll be easy like you're coasting along as if it's not working at it but it's just arriving naturally then enjoy that time times you have to."
8. When going through grief, partners cannot simultaneously indulge and dwell
When Heart and Chiz went through the miscarriage of their twins, they went through it with one being stronger for the other.
"We can't both be crying on each other's shoulders. In trying to console each other, one has to do the consoling in relation to the other one that's grieving," he said.
Though it seems like he wasn't affected by it, Chiz said he thinks his time just hasn't come yet.
"I didn't indulge, I didn't dwell. That time hasn't come [for me] yet. It may come soon. It's something that a couple should actually work at and do it," he said.
9. There's no formula to finding true love
According to Chiz, each and every person has their own definition of true love and it's only they themselves can tell who is "the one."
"The one you think is the one wala namang formula na eto true love to kapag naramdaman mo true love 'to pag 'eto ang naramdaman mo hindi rin yan," Chiz explained.
"It's not about settling it's about actually finding the one you love and the one who loves you nobody really settles, nobody should settle," he continued.
10. On past relationships with the wrong people: You meet people for a reason
Heart believes that her relationships in the past only prepared her for the person who she's really meant to be with.
"I read somewhere that we meet people for a reason, a season, and a lifetime and I think everything that I went through just prepared me for the person that I was going to end up with," she said.
The Kapuso celebrity said she has no regrets with anything. "I'm glad that I went through that because I think I know how to love the right way the proper why, if there's even such a thing but for somebody like you, you deserve the world, I'm the world," she joked.
