Iya reveals: Drew was only supposed to be a bridge, but ended up falling for her

Iya Villania and Drew Arellano were not always the favorite couple we know and love today. In fact, the two started out as many of the best relationships do — as friends.

According to a Tunay na Buhay episode on Wednesday, the couple first met during the youth-oriented show "Click" back in 2003.

Not only did they work together, but they acted as a love team for the show.

Iya said, "Noon palang nakita ko na how family-oriented he is, how close he is to his papa, his siblings."

Iya revealed that Drew was originally supposed to be just a bridge for a mutual friend of theirs who liked Iya.

Soon, however, it was the two of them who grew closer. "Siguro doon na lang na realize ni Drew na teka lang, type ko rin si Iya eh," she said.

Finally, when Iya asked Drew about their relationship, he replied, "I think I'm ready."

As they got older, Iya felt her love growing. "All the more I came to love him as he got older kasi naging atleta pa siya and that's like super type ko," Iya joked.

On their 8th year together, Drew proposed to Iya during a trip to Europe. Iya said that she didn't even cry when he did.

"Akala ko joke!" Iya said, laughing. "'Yung singsing na nilabas niya napaka-parang key ring."

On January 31, 2014, the couple tied the knot and said their I dos after a very long journey together as teammates, as co-workers, and as friends.

Currently, the two are parents to two adorable children, Primo and Leon. —Kaela Malig/JST, GMA News
