OFW beats up hubby's mistress after catching them together, husband now behind bars

Aira (not her real name) had the shock of her life when she caught her husband "Joel" in a passionate moment with his mistress in their home.

In a moment of pure anger, Aira physically hit the mistress, Rina (not her real name), and pulled the latter's hair.

The scorned wife, an overseas Filipino worker based in the Middle East, shared her story in an episode of "Alisto."

It was when she returned home to the Philippines that she found out about her husband's infidelity, with the help of her sibling.

"Kahit kasal pa kayo o hindi, wala pa ring nagagawa talaga pag ayaw mo 'yung tao," Aira said, in tears.

She admitted that she didn't think Joel would choose Rina over her, but she was mistaken.

Aira said that she would forgive her husband, if he asked for forgiveness, but she would not get back with him.

Now, she is filing a case against him for concubinage.

Concubinage, as defined by Article 334 of the Revised Penal Code, is proven when a husband "keeps a mistress in conjugal dwelling, has sexual intercourse under scandalous circumstances with a woman who is not his wife, or cohabits with the mistress in any other place."

If proven in court, Joel faces a penalty of imprisonment from six months and one day, up to four years and two months.

According to the report, Joel could also be charged for causing psychological violence to his wife, based on the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act.

At present, Joel is behind bars as his case is being determined in court.

According to an expert, the mistress can file charges against Aira for physical injuries, but Rina chose to not pursue it.
