Mom offers to do other people's laundry just to give son a simple birthday celebration

A struggling mother in Iloilo has been offering to do other people's laundry just to give her son a simple birthday celebration.

According to a report by Mav Gonzales on "Saksi," Jhona dela Cruz offered her services in an online bartering group, where food and other items are usually sold.

She even had to borrow a mobile phone just to be able to post her offer.

In an interview, Jhona teared up when she said her child never experienced a celebration since his baptism.

She said what she makes from washing and ironing clothes, even combined with her husband's income from farming, is not enough for their needs.

Thankfully, several netizens, who were touched by her story, sent her packages full of relief and food items.

Jhona expressed her gratitude for making her little boy's birthday "handa" possible.

"Ngayon meron na kaming pag salad, pang spaghetti at meron na ring mga pang-ulam sa araw araw," she said with a smile.
