Comedian Tekla fights for newborn son’s life

Comedian Tekla has blessed with a baby boy, who was born just three days ago.

His joy, however, was short-lived as his son was born with anorectal malformation, a birth defect where the baby’s anus and rectum didn’t develop properly.

According to Nelson Canlas’ “24 Oras” report Thursday, Baby Angelo is fighting for his life and needs to undergo surgery as soon as possible.

In tears, Tekla expressed his worries and fears over his son.

“Kaba at saka takot ko, ganoon na lang,” he said. “Masakit bilang isang tatay.” 

The Kapuso talent said he’d been doing whatever he could to fight for Baby Angelo’s life.

“Nilapag ko lahat, nilalapag ko kung anong kayang mailapag … handa akong mag-start ulit. That’s life. At the end of the day, wala akong pagsisisihan.” 

He wondered why this situation happened now, when the only thing he could do was pray.

“Sabi ko, ‘Bro, grabe ka naman, dito mo pa talaga binigay ’yung ganitong situation na wala akong kalaban-laban, kung hindi ang humagulgol at maglupasay,’” said Tekla.

If “there’s a big, big plan si God, kung will ni God na ibigay Niya sa akin, ’yun ang hihilingin ko,” he said, adding he would never lose hope. 

The comedian said the situation would’ve been different if this were another time.

“Nagkataon lang siguro, isang sampa ko lang ito,” he said. “Lahat siguro susuyurin ko, pero wala kang masusuyod in this moment.”

He also said he wasn’t used to asking for help, but for his son he was willing to swallow his pride.

“If ever na may taong tutulong … siguro sobrang blessings at saka siguro lifetime kong pasasalamatan.” – RC, GMA News
