Max Collins says water birth at home difficult but fulfilling

Max Collins has described her experience with doing water birth at home as difficult yet fulfilling.

“Mahirap siya. I really thought it wouldn’t be as hard as it was, but mahirap talaga siya. But sobrang fulfilling after kasi now I feel so much more empowered and iba na ngayon yung respeto ko sa mga mommies kasi hindi siya madali gawin manganak,” the actress told Nelson Canlas on “24 Oras” Thursday.

While giving birth was blissful, she also experienced excruciating pain. “Iba yung joy after, but then grabe talaga ’yung pain! As in!”

Max gave birth to Skye Anakin on July 6.

Her husband Pancho Magno expressed his admiration for Max, who went through the procedure without medication and anaesthesia.

“Sobrang proud ako sa kanya. Nagawa niya ng walang anaesthesia, walang tear, walang gamot, so parang sabi ko, hindi ko talaga ma-explain,” he said.

On July 8, Pancho shared a video of Max right after giving birth. Sitting on a big tub, the couple were submerged in water up to waist level, as Max gave a tight hug to their newborn.

“To our son, Skye Anakin, you are one of the reasons why I believe in God. Can’t wait to be your best friend. To my amazing wife, you are also one of the reasons why I believe in God, you did everything with no medications and no tear. There are no words to describe what you did. I love you and your heart! You are meant to be a mother,” he posted.

He also thanked their delivery team, which included a doula and 2 midwives.

According to Max, her recovery is quick, saying she has been able to walk on the same day of her childbirth.

To recover even faster, she is eating healthy food and has temporarily stopped doing her workouts.

The new parents are learning how to take care of Skye Anakin with the help of family, friends, and information found online.

Max had earlier decided to give birth at home as she was anxious to go to a hospital due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

In May, the actress said she had the approval of her doctor to give birth at home. – RC, GMA News
