Former Clasher Nolo Lopez is conquering TikTok by including his senior citizen parents!
Former Clasher Nolo Lopez is among the many celebrities conquering TikTok nowadays but he's setting himself apart by...including his senior citizen parents!
From just 10,000 followers on TikTok, Nolo now has 180,000 followers.
In the debut episode of "Newsmakers" Tuesday, he shared how it all started. On his dad's birthday in April, he did a TikTok dance challenge with his parents.
"Nagulat sila na my parents were already senior citizens," Nolo said. "Nagulat sila nagsasayaw pa, cool na cool sila, supportive. So they asked more videos for them."
His 82-year-old father, Hermogenes "Emong" Lopez, said he would also receive comments about how supportive they were.
Nolo's 74-year old mother, Amelita "Ame" Lopez, meanwhile, shared how people would tell her, "Nami-miss 'yung parents ko, sana ganyan din kami."
Aside from doing dance challenges, Nolo and his parents would also do acting skits, much to netizens' awe and surprise. He says they would study the skit — their lines — just 15 minutes prior to the shoot.
"Ngayong pandemic kailangan natin mag-relax, kailangan wag tayo padadala sa pandemic,"Emong said.
It's true. During lockdown, many Filipinos have turned to TikTok as a way to destress, pass time, and have fun.
Senior citzens like Nolo's parents are hard to come by in TikTok, a social media platform preferred by millennials and gen z. But sometimes, netizens get lucky — such as the case of Tita Winnie trying her hand at it, too!
