Pops Fernandez denies romance rumors with Derek Ramsay: ‘Bakit ako nasali sa kuwento na ’yan?’

Pops Fernandez has clarified that there is nothing going on between her and Derek Ramsay.

“It’s okay to ask about it because it’s absolutely not true,” said the Concert Queen during a digital press conference Wednesday for her upcoming show with Martin Nievera, according to a report by PEP.ph.

The report said Pops was linked to the actor after she posted her birthday greeting to his mom Remedios on his Instagram in November.

In the comments, she wrote: “Happy bday mommy,” adding an emoji of a smiling face.

The report said that while some netizens had given their own interpretation to the greeting, Derek had clarified that his mom and Pops were “best friends.”

It also said the actor had complained that people were quick to make an issue out of everything.

Derek and actress Andrea Torres confirmed their breakup last month after a one-year relationship.

“I just don’t wanna talk about it because I felt Derek and Andrea are not really talking about it. Ang weird naman na ako ’yung magsasalita, right?” said Pops.

“Anyway, hindi po siya totoo. How it started, hindi ko rin po alam,” she added. “But unfortunately, ang masakit noon, ang dali palang maniwala ng mga tao ngayon!”

The PEP report quoted the singer as saying that she rarely saw Derek, and during those times he was always with Andrea.

“I can count the times that I have seen Derek, and during those times, we were also with Andrea,” Pops said.

“And after that, hindi na po [kami nagkita]. We don’t talk to each other. We don’t really text each other.”

She also said they saw each other only because she was meeting his mom.

“Maybe siguro kasi nagkikita kami ng mom ni Derek, but for another reason and for another purpose … but other than that, not at all.”

Pops also mentioned that she and Derek shared the same manager, Jojie Dingcong.

“Actually, ako ’yung nahihiya. Bakit ako nasali diyan sa kuwento na ’yan? Nakakahiya sa kanila. Nakakahiya po dahil hindi po totoo,” she said. – RC, GMA News
