After bearing plans to start a new life in Subic, Zambales, Megan Young and Mikael Daez decided to welcome 2021 in the beautiful nature-filled haven.

Based on Megan's IG post, she and her husband celebrated New Year's Eve with the Young family indoors at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone where they decided to do the countdown and fireworks via "Animal Crossing."

"Waiting for 2021 with the family!" Megan said in the caption. "We’re doing the countdown and going to watch fireworks through Animal Crossing. Praying for 2021 to be a much better year!!!" she added.

Megan and Mikael also had their "first date" for 2021 in Subic, at a local coffee shop where she enjoyed a yummy cup of coffee eggnog.

The 2013 Miss Earth titleholder said she and her husband have been staying in Subic for the holidays, and it was her first time back in her hometown since their wedding in January 2020.

“I think this is the longest we’ve stayed in Subic for the holidays! Usually we’re only here for a couple of days but since most of us are working from home, it’s been easier for us to stay longer,” Megan wrote.

“This is our first time back in my hometown since our wedding last January and we’re slowly discovering new places. Can’t wait to see what else is new in Subic and Olongapo,” she added.

The couple recently shared that they’ve decided to try moving to Subic after spending most of their newlywed days in a Metro Manila condo amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
