Heart and Chiz on LDRs: It’s about communication and appreciating each other while you’re apart'

Heart Evangelista and Chiz Escudero talked about handling long distance relationships especially now that most are going through it amid the pandemic.

In another episode of "Adulting with Chiz," the power couple sat down together to discuss matters on long distance relationships, among other things.

Chiz argued that the current generation is quite lucky to have different ways to communicate with their loved ones, who are abroad.

"Mas maswuerte na nga tayo ngayon. ‘Yung nang girlfriend ko LDR nun when I studied in the States — walang email, walang cellphone, walang libreng app like Viber, WhatsApp na puwede mo matawagan at makausap," Chiz said.

The Sorsogon governor said all they had was snail mail and expensive long distance calls.

"Ngayon actually libre puwede mo makausap mahal mo, kaibigan mo, mas maraming oportunidad," Chiz said.

Chiz gave wise words to couples in LDRs: "This too shall come to pass. It will pass sooner than later, it’s a matter of holding on to each other during this time. "

"Hindi naaman siguro dahlian porquet nagka-COVID, magbe-break kayo, dahil hindi kayo nagkita ng, let’s say isa dalawang buwan. Ibig sabihin, mababaw at hindi nakaugat kung ano man merong kayo," he added.

Heart said she totally understands. In the beginning of lockdown, the two spent several months apart, with Chiz in Sorsogon, and Heart in Manila. It was only after restrictions were eased that the two reunited, after which Heart began spending a lot more time in Sorsogon.

"Because I know as a governor you’re like a little president of your little country," Heart said.

"It’s intense guys, I mean I thought that being a governor would be less than being a senator but it’s a different story. I do appreciate everything you do," she added.

Chiz then joked and said, "ipasa ko kaya sayo. Ikaw nag-shooting ka ng isang buwan sa China. O ganon naman yun unawaan [at] intindihan."

Chiz said LDRs are all about "communication and appreciating each other while you’re apart and making the most out of that too and not simply thinking it’s a waste of time when you’re apart para 'pag nagkita kayo, may gigil," Chiz said,

Heart said when she and Chiz are apart, she is "able to do the things that I need to do. When you’re busy, I’m also productive, so we both grow. Hindi selfish kind of love."

Chiz agreed and said "Each and every person would also need time apart, time to be by himself, by herself for them to grow not apart but separately."
