Bretman Rock throws special birthday party for his mom before she retires in the Philippines
Bretman Rock showed his vulnerable side and opened up about his thoughts on his mom leaving the United States for good.
In the season finale of "MTV Following: Bretman Rock," the online celebrity threw a surprise luau party for his mom Mercedita's 58th birthday.
Aside from making her feel loved on her special day, Bretman also wanted to let her experience Hawaii one last time before she flies to the Philippines.
"This birthday is gonna be special because [she’s] moving," he said. "She's going to retire in the Philippines but it's really hard to imagine my mom really far away at this time right now."
"There's a pandemic going on, the world is in shambles, my Philippine home (in Cagayan) is literally underwater after a typhoon hit in November," he added.

During their celebration, Bretman mustered up the courage to tell his mom how he truly feels and thanked her for her sacrifices.
"I hope to build you your house someday in the Philippines and I just want to do things that dad couldn't so I hope that you don't actually mean that you're leaving this year because that would suck and I would really miss you so much."
Even with his efforts to convince her to stay, he knows that his mom will still proceed as planned.
"My mom definitely wants to go back home in the Philippines and although I don't want her to go home, that woman is gonna do whatever she wants," he said.
"I will be Facetiming her every night because I am a momma's boy and I need to know what the hell my mom's up to," he added.
Mercedita said that she's "very surprised" and thankful for everyone's gesture to throw her a party. —Franchesca Viernes/MGP, GMA News
