How Iya Villania and Drew Arellano keep their marriage strong while raising 3 kids

Iya Villania and Drew Arellano shared how they're keeping their marriage strong while raising three kids -- Primo, Leon, and their newest bundle of joy Baby Alana.

In Kryz Uy and Slater Young's Skypodcast, the Kapuso couple shared some of their secrets.

"We’re all adults. Of course we are lovers and then you share so many things lalo na kapag wala pa kayong anak and then you do stuff together then you become parents and then there will be a point in time where the mother will have 100% focus on the kids," Drew said in the podcast.

Drew said during that period, the father "takes the back seat. And she [Iya] actually said, 'yeah parang I’m sorry baka naman you’re feeling ano' and I'm like 'oo nga oo nga'."

"That never happened because I know naman it was more about being lovers and whatnot. Parang yung mindset when we get old. We’re gonna be frail whatever. I’m gonna love you as a companion, as a travel buddy, magke-kwentuhan lang tayo somewhere, you know watching the sunset or whatever, sipping tea or whatever," he added.

Iya said she thinks aside from their seven-year-marriage, their foundation is their ten-year-relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend.

"So I think that we built a pretty strong foundation because you know it wasn’t an easy 10, but because we made it through that and we reached the point where we were so sure we wanted to grow old with each other, parang anything after that [would be easy]," she said.

Drew said one thing that kept their relationship strong, despite going through the phase of Iya giving more attention to their kids, is that he is already whole all by himself.

"I am the fourth of five kids but I grew up really young. I left the house started my own business when I was 20 and I had that independent mindset. My mindset is I’m 100% but when you [Iya] entered my life, I’m 200%. But on my own I’m still 100%," Drew said.

Iya said when they were only in a relationshio, there was a point when she had no time for him also. "And that’s when Drew got into triathlon and he was like 'OK 'di mo ko bibigyan ng time I’ll put my time elsewhere so I’ll put my time in triathlon.'"

"So when we became parents, it wasn’t so hard on him when my attention again was given to someone else — Primo, Leon and Alana," she added.

Drew said he always keeps himself busy and he always has something to do all the time.
