Carla Abellana issues statement on wedding banns

Carla Abellana has clarified that the release of her and Tom Rodriguez’s wedding bann is a Church requirement.

On Wednesday afternoon, Carla posted an Instagram story where she said the bann that's currently circulating online is one of the steps needed before they can proceed with their planned wedding.

“A wedding bann is a Church requirement for Catholics getting married in any and all Catholic Churches in the Philippines,” she wrote.

“It is a necessary step to be able to secure a wedding permit,” she continued.

The actress also added definitions for “Wedding Bann” from an encyclopedia as well as the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Her statement came after a parish in Batangas shared a photo of the couple’s wedding bann, which stated some details for their possible special day.

The religious organization also shared Carla’s Instagram story on their account.

Speaking to GMA News Online, Tom's manager Popoy Caritativo advised the public to wait for the couple to share details of their wedding.

Carla and Tom got engaged in October last year and publicized it in March.

In a previous interview, the two shared they plan to hold their classic-style church wedding this year once the country's current situation gets better.

The couple has been together for almost seven years. They met through GMA's hit series "My Husband's Lover" in 2013. — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
