Dingdong Dantes on his children’s future career: ‘We’ll be here wherever they may want to go’

Dingdong Dantes has shared that he and wife Marian Rivera will be there for their children no matter what career they may want to pursue in the future.

In an episode of “The Howie Severino Podcast,” the actor said that although he and Marian would support their children in whatever they would want to do, they would still want them to just enjoy the “situations and opportunities” of being a kid.

“Because the two of us, their parents, we came from that background. We became actors early in life, we started working early,” Dingdong said in Filipino.

“[Me], to be specific, I did not enjoy my college life because early on I was already a working student,” said the actor.

“So, for me, I want to make the principle clear that I want them to enjoy these things or these situations and opportunities of being a kid, of being a student,” he said.

“But our principle is that whatever they may want, wherever they may be happy, we’ll be there to guide them. Not necessarily to push where they should go but to guide them to where they would want to go,” said the father. “And the only way to do it is to show them the proper options first.”

For example, Dingdong said, if his children were musically inclined or into sports, he would introduce them to different kinds of instruments or games that they could play.

“The bottom line is we will definitely be here wherever they may want to go with the proper guidance and definitely we won’t push for what we want as parents,” he said.
