Sometimes, errors occur even before the actual marriage work happens. Some couples find themselves in a tricky situation when they discover that their names were misspelled upon getting married.

In an episode of "Sumbungan ng Bayan," Atty. Rowena Daroy Morales shared there is a solution to such problems.

"'Yung nagkamali pagpasok ng pangalan, kasal pa rin sila," Morales said. "Pwede nila ipapalit ang kanyang pangalan. Correction of entry. Siya pa rin 'yun eh."

Since they have a marriage contract and a marriage license, they can see the name of the father and mother, and other details, to prove that it's the same person just with a misspelled name.

A misspelled name, the attorney said, is therefore not a way out of a marriage.

She said, "Iisa ka lang...Hindi way out 'yun. Hindi 'yan dahilan para mawalang bisa ang kasal except if kanyang basihan ay buong identity, mistaken identity."
